Privacy policy
Last updated 24 October 2026.
We built this site to collect as little as possible. We have no accounts, no comments and no advertising scripts. The only thing you can give us is your email address, if you sign up for our notes.
What we collect
- Server logs. Our web host records technical details of each request, such as IP address, time, page and browser type, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use them to identify you.
- Email you send us. If you write to [email protected], we keep your message and address to answer you, and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Email sign-ups
- What we keep: your email address, the topics you chose, the page you signed up on and the date. We do not keep your IP address.
- Why: only to send you the emails you asked for. We never sell or share the list.
- Where: in a private repository on GitHub (GitHub, Inc., United States), which only we can access. Our web host processes the form when you send it.
- Your consent: you tick a box to agree. You can withdraw it at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to [email protected] and we will delete your address.
- How long: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
If we start using an email service to send these notes, we will name it here before we do.
What is stored in your browser
If you choose the light or dark theme, we save that choice in your browser's local storage under the name wgo-theme. It never leaves your device. We do not set tracking cookies.
Analytics
At the time of writing we run no analytics. If we add privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies or personal data, we will say so here before we do.
Affiliate links and third parties
Some links are affiliate links (see the disclosure). When you click one you leave our site, and the seller or an affiliate network may set cookies and process your data under their own policies. We receive only the information they report back to us about commissions, which does not identify you.
Pages may link to other sites, such as NASA or the International Meteor Organization. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its use. Write to [email protected].
Children
The site is general interest and not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top.
