Sources and numbers
- Every number is either calculated by us with a method described on this page, or taken from a source named on the page where it appears.
- We prefer primary sources: scientific bodies, space agencies, and the people who computed the data. We link to them.
- We say when we read a source. Things change.
- Where we have not checked something, the page says so rather than guessing.
Use of AI
We use an AI assistant to help draft text and to write code. A person decides what to publish, and every figure is checked against its calculation or source before it goes live. AI is not a source: we never publish a number because a model produced it.
Safety
Eclipse viewing can permanently damage eyes. On those pages we follow NASA's safety guidance and link to it. We do not recommend a particular brand of eclipse glasses unless it appears on a published list of certified products, and we will say where that list comes from.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and, for anything that matters, say what changed and when at the top of the page. To report an error write to [email protected].
Recommendations and money
We decide what to recommend first and add links second. A commission never changes a verdict, a ranking or a number. Links that may earn us money are marked, as described in the affiliate disclosure. Nobody pays us to be listed.
Independence
We are not affiliated with NASA, the International Meteor Organization, EclipseWise or any tour operator. We use their published data and credit it.
